MUS100-Johnston test #2 study sheet
Test #2 is 100 points, multiple choice and true/false, with 10
listening examples.
Reading: Chapters 11-19 including the terms at end of each chapter. [Chapters Preface-5 are on ALL tests.}
The tests are multiple choice and true/false except for the listening which is matching. For the most part, I will take the questions from the McGraw-Hill test study questions found on <http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0073122130/student_view0/chapter1/multiple_choice_quiz.html>.
Additional study tips:
I suggest that you first read the text carefully, paying attention to
each heading and the terms. Do the listing as you meet the pieces in
the text.
Then go to the class web page and click on the study guides. Skip the
terms and go to the bottom. At the bottom you will find the actual
listening test. Study those pieces - listen and learn the name,
composer's name, and period of each piece. ONLY PIECES FROM THE
PERIODS WE ARE CURRENTLY STUDYING WILL BE ON EACH TEST! For for Test
#2 those would be Baroque and Classical ONLY. Use 3"x5" cards,
putting the name of a piece on one side, and the composer and period
on the other. Memorize this part.
Then click on the McGraw-Hill test bank and try to answer the test
questions for each chapter. The tests will all be multiple choice /
true-false, and will come from those questions!
+LISTENING: Musical examples are listed on page xxiv. Be careful not to confuse "example" numbers with "CD track" numbers. See the inside of the front and back book covers for track numbers, and the page in your text to follow the examples. For Trepak (Russian Dance), go to page 14 in your book, and CD 1 track 2 to listen!!To
identify what you hear, you will choose from the following lists.
Remember that for the periods, we only answer from the periods we are
currently studying.
I will play 10 pieces, a minute from each piece (could be the center
or end of the piece). Then you will identify the pieces giving the
title, composer, and period for each.
